Dispensary Design Case STudy

Discover how we developed a bold, cohesive visual identity for Happy Leaf Dispensary, from their website to in-store materials, apparel, and print collateral.

Project Overview

Happy Leaf Dispensary prides itself on making cannabis accessible, enjoyable, and empowering for all adults. Located in Somerdale, NJ, Happy Leaf’s mission is to provide a welcoming and curated experience for seasoned users and newcomers.

Happy Leaf approached us to design a complete visual identity that encapsulated their ethos while standing out in a competitive market. From the website to merchandise and in-store branding, each element needed to reflect Happy Leaf’s vibrant and approachable brand.

The Brand

Happy Leaf radiates warmth, accessibility, and empowerment. Their vision was clear: to create a brand that feels fun and inviting while maintaining professionalism and trustworthiness. With bold colors, playful typography, and unique character illustrations, Happy Leaf’s identity needed to make an immediate and lasting impression.

Our challenge was to weave these elements into a cohesive identity that extended seamlessly across all touchpoints—digital, print, and physical spaces. The goal was to make every customer interaction, whether online or in-store, feel like an extension of Happy Leaf’s central mission.

Approach and Process

Our process began with extensive strategy sessions to understand Happy Leaf’s goals and define the pillars of its brand. We then translated these insights into a visual identity system that could be applied consistently across various mediums.

Building the Visual Identity

The heart of Happy Leaf’s branding lies in its bold, joyful visual elements. We began by refining their logo to ensure versatility across different applications. Alongside this, we developed a color palette featuring navy, green, orange, and cream, evoking energy and sophistication.

Typography was another cornerstone of the brand. We paired August Bright for display text with Barlow for subheadings and body copy, creating a balance of readability and personality.

To add a playful touch, we designed custom character illustrations and sticker-style accents that could highlight promotions, events, and special features. These elements helped establish Happy Leaf as approachable and customer-friendly, setting them apart in a crowded market.

Extending the Brand Across Mediums

Happy Leaf’s branding didn’t stop at the website. To create a truly immersive experience, we extended their identity to merchandise, apparel, in-store materials, and print collateral. Branded t-shirts, tote bags, and promotional stickers became walking advertisements for the dispensary, reinforcing the brand’s presence in the community.

Inside the dispensary, we brought the brand to life with cohesive signage, product displays, and point-of-sale materials that echoed the website’s vibrant design. These elements ensured a seamless transition from online to in-store experiences.

Print collateral, such as loyalty program cards, event flyers, and educational brochures, carried the same bold colors and playful accents, maintaining consistency while serving functional purposes.

The Website as a Central Hub

The website served as the digital cornerstone of Happy Leaf’s identity. Designed with the same playful yet professional tone, the site incorporated dynamic visuals, intuitive navigation, and educational content to engage new and returning customers.

We implemented a responsive menu system, allowing users to explore products by category or strain type. Key branding elements, such as character illustrations and gradient patterns, were integrated throughout the site to ensure it felt like an extension of the physical dispensary.

Why a Cohesive Brand Identity Matters

In the cannabis industry, a strong visual identity is crucial for building trust, standing out, and creating memorable customer experiences. By unifying Happy Leaf’s digital, print, and in-store presence under one cohesive identity, we helped them establish a brand that resonates with their target audience.

Every design choice, from typography to merchandise, was made to enhance customer engagement and reinforce Happy Leaf’s mission to make cannabis accessible and enjoyable for all.
